History

History Of Twin Oak

Twin Oak Credit Union Ltd. has firmly secured its roots in the financial services industry for over 50 years. Laying the foundation in 1954 to serve the employees of the Ford Motor Company, the Credit Union was known as the Oakville Auto Employee's Credit Union Ltd. As other small industries were incorporated into the bond, the name was changed to Twin Oak Industrial Credit Union Ltd. Then after the merger with Brampton Community Credit Union, we became Twin Oak Credit Union Ltd. to more accurately reflect the changed membership base.

Presently, Twin Oak has two branch locations, 13 employees, over 4,000 members and holds combined assets in excess of $55 million.

Credit Union Advantage

A credit union is a financial co-operative owned and directed by its members. Each member is required to make a one-time share purchase, empowering them to be a part of the leadership of their credit union. Members elect a Board of Directors who will help set the strategic direction of the credit union, establish corporate policies, represent their needs, and add value to the communities where they operate. All money deposited into the credit union is invested as loans to members and profits are used to increase member equity and build reserves, which is later returned to members in the form of dividends.

As a member of our credit union, you are more than a customer; you are a member and an owner. You will help shape and direct the future of your credit union.
